Obituary

Susana Reyna Lopez, 99, of Plainview passed away Friday, July 3, 2009, in Plainview. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at Genesis Baptist Church with the Rev. Carlos Hinojos officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A time of sharing in celebration of Susana Lopez's life will be held at 7 p.m. today, July 6, 2009, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview. Mrs. Lopez was born May 24, 1910, in Elgin, Texas to Francisco and Gregoria Riojas Reyna. She married the Rev. Arnulfo M. Lopez on Feb. 7, 1926, in Austin. He preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1968. She also was preceded in death by her daughter, Anita Carter. Mrs. Lopez was a Baptist pastor's wife and missionary in Texas and Mexico for 44 years. She was a great woman of prayer and faithful service for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was passionate about missionary service. Mrs. Lopez was a member of Genesis Baptist Church and a past member and volunteer of RSVP. She is survived by eight daughters, Ruth Mitchell and husband, Benny, of Bertram, Rebecca Mendoza and husband, Andrew, of Waco, Noemi Cavazos and husband, Joe, of Lockney, Rachel Camargo and husband, Joe, of Plainview, Esther Arredondo and husband, Sone, of Monroe, La., Bertha Rogers and Ofelia Lopez of Plainview and Elizabeth Richardson of Kress; one son, Arnold Lopez of Amarillo; two sisters, Eva Gonzales of Allende, Mexico, and Victoria Ramirez of Elgin; 27 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be grandsons, John Carter, Richard Mitchell, Gilbert Mendoza, Charles Davila, Jim Fitchett, Arnold Lopez III, John Michael and Jaime Rogers. Special acknowledgement of appreciation is given to Mary Rose Cedillo and the staff at Sera Rose Assisted Living Center and Nancy Kernell and Gail Rockembaugh of Area Community Hospice. The family suggests memorials to Sera Rose Assisted Living Center, 410 W. 11th St., Plainview, TX 79072.
