Obituary

Funeral services for Leona Ligon, 91, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hale Center Church of Christ with Charles Cook officiating. A private burial will be held at Strip Cemetery in Abernathy by Freeman-Abell Funeral Home. Viewing will be held from 9 a.m.-noon Thursday. Mrs. Ligon died Monday, Dec. 18, 2006, at Legends of the Plains Nursing Center in Hale Center. She was born Nov. 7, 1915, in Wellington. She attended North Texas State University and Texas Tech University. She was employed as a hospital food service administrator. She married John W. Ligon on July 2, 1932, in Springlake. He died Nov. 12, 1987. Survivors include two daughters, Georgia Wardlaw of Hale Center and Jackie Dibs of Lakewood, Calif.; one brother, Noel Edward Peacock of Wilmington, Calif.; one sister, Lucy Peacock of Las Vegas; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
