Obituary

Funeral Mass for Odell Thomas Leyendecker Sr., 64, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerard Kenney, pastor, and Augustin Cantu, deacon, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Bartley-Silva Funeral Home.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in Bartley-Silva Memorial Chapel. Mr. Leyendecker died Wednesday, April 24, 2002, in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born May 1, 1937, the son of the Janice Cortez Leyendecker and the late Will Leyendecker. He moved to Plainview in 1963 from Levelland and was an electrician. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
In 1955, he married Lupe DeSantiago in Levelland. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry Leyendecker and Odell Leyendecker Jr., both of Plainview; a daughter, Brenda Shedd of Plainview; his mother, Janice Leyendecker of Thorndale; four brothers, Earnest, Rudy, Willie and Otto Leyendecker; seven sisters, Lillian Lopez, Janie Cano, Vera Mata, Helen Perry, Amelia Pontanya, Margaret Vega and Olivia Barron; and 10 grandchildren. A brother, Wilford Leyendecker, is deceased. Pallbearers will be Abel Sunigan Jr., B.J. Castillo, Justin Shedd, Jimmy Esqueda, Chris Leyendecker and Zachary Leyendecker.
