Obituary

Graveside services for Alvin Leach, 54, of Lubbock, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Abernathy Cemetery with the Rev. John Lowrie, pastor of First Baptist Church in Abernathy, officiating. Burial will be by Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Mr. Leach died Sunday, March 10, 2002, in Mercy Hospital in Laredo. He was born April 16, 1947, in Comanche County. He attended Abernathy schools. He was a police officer in the Houston area for 17 years before becoming the owner and operator of BAS Transport. He also was a rancher. He was a former member of the Oddfellow Lodge in Abernathy, and was a member of the Abernathy First Baptist Church
Survivors include four daughters, Becky Estes and Sherry Montiel of Lubbock, Anita Lightfoot of Andrews, and Michelle Leach of McAllen; two brothers, Bill Leach of Llano and Travis Leach of Houston; two sisters, Twitty Watts and Jeannie Grisham both of Abernathy; six granddaughters, Spring Dodd, Summer Dodd, Brittany Ramber and Halie Ramber, all of Lubbock, and Farrah Lightfoot and Kacie Lightfoot, both of Andrews.
