Alvin D. Law Memorial services for Alvin D. Law, 91, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at 9th and Columbia Church of Christ in Plainview with Ted Wilson officiating and Evan Wiese assisting. Law has donated his remains to the Texas Tech University Medical School in Lubbock. Law died on Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at Runningwater Draw Care Center in Olton. He was born on March 26, 1923, in Mt. Dora, N.M. Law was married to Daisy Wilson Law on Jan. 15, 1943, in Clovis, N.M. The couple celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary early this year. In addition to his wife Daisy, he is survived by a son Dennis and his wife Linda of Manhattan, Kan.; and daughter Sylvia Morris and husband Otis of Seagoville, Texas. Grandchildren include Dwight of Shanghai, China; Andrea Carey of Manhattan, Kan.; and Lt. C. Brent Law of Frisco, Texas; Lt. Cmdr. Shellee Morris, Virginia Beach, Va.; and Carrie Clark, Waynesville, N.C. The Laws also have nine great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews number among the survivors. Law has three surviving sisters. Alvin grew up in Hale Center where he graduated from high school. After high school, Law attended Lippert Business College in Plainview. He went into the Army and was a veteran of the Battle of the Bulge and was with the unit that liberated the Nazi concentration camp at Dachau. He farmed south of Plainview in the Happy Union area for many years. After retiring from farming, Law managed the bus depot in Plainview for 24 years. Law was active within the community, serving on the Plainview Hospital Board for eight years. He and his wife volunteered and contributed to Blue Haven Youth Camp in Las Vegas, N.M., where they had a cabin for many years. The family suggests memorials to the Blue Haven Youth Camp, Las Vegas, N.M.
