Graveside services for Helen "Joyce" Latta, 86, of Frisco, formerly of Plainview, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015, at Plainview Memorial Park with Jason Smith, pastor of College Heights officiating. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. at Bartley Funeral Home. Long time Plainview resident Helen Joyce Rousser Latta accepted her ascension on Saturday, Oct. 31, in Plano Texas. She was born on Independence Day on July 4, 1929, in Plainview, Texas, to her parents Orman Grady and Nellie Gertrude Stuckey "Nell" Rousser. Her father Orman came from a long line of farmers in the Plainview area. Her grandfather was Robert Rousser of Swisher County and her great-grandfather was Jacob Fredrich Rousser who came to the Milam, Texas, area in 1878 from Effingren, Germany. She was preceded in death by her parents Orman Grady Rousser on Dec. 24, 1969, and Nellie Gertrude Stuckey Rousser on July 8, 1991, her husband James Gordon Latta who passed away Feb. 5, 2003, and her sister-in-law Mary Louise Latta Mallow on Feb. 3, 2015, and her brother-in-law Richard Enoch Latta on March 14, 1980, and her brother Orman Grady Rousser Jr. on April 30, 1955. She is survived by her sister Wanda Grace Rousser Newton (Doyce) of Tow, Texas, and her sister Ila Faye Rousser Pigg. She is also survived by her brother-in-Law Harold Dwight Latta (Patsy) of Seminole, Texas, and Billie Margaret Latta Breeland, sister-in-law of Phoenix, Arizona. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews and a dear cousin and long-time friend, Ramona Rousser Mallow of Lubbock, Texas, formerly of Plainview. She is also survived by her children, Sandra Kay Latta Youngblood (Spurgeon) of Wilson, North Carolina, James Gary Latta of Frisco, Texas, and granddaughter Taren Michelle Latta of Frisco, Texas. Joyce resided with husband Gordon in Hale County from 1946 to 1965 where she was actively involved in farming. They moved to Plainview in 1965 and lived there until 1982. While living in Plainview, Joyce was an active member of the First Baptist Church. Lake Buchanan was their home from 1982 to 1996 when they moved to the Del Webb community in Georgetown, Texas, and she moved to Frisco, Texas, in 2009. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Georgetown. While living on Lake Buchanan, they enjoyed fishing, traveling in their RV across the U.S. and square dancing while they traveled. Joyce Latta was active in the PTA while her children were attending Plainview public schools and she spent many hours volunteering with the Pink Ladies at the Plainview Hospital. Joyce loved sports especially the Texas teams -- Spurs, Cowboys and Rangers. She was a competitive card player and loved a challenge of learning new games while living in Del Webb, Frisco, Texas. Joyce kept in touch with friends from the Cousins community, the Providence community, Kress, Texas and Plainview as well as friends she met in Georgetown and Lake Buchanan. She was planning a Rousser family reunion at the time of her fall in June 2015.
