Obituary

Graveside services for Marjorie Vaughn Lanford, 85, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Plainview Memorial Park with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor of College Heights Baptist Church, officiating. Burial arrangements are by Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Mrs. Lanford died at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, in Covenant Hospital Plainview. She was born Aug. 26, 1919, in Wade, Okla., the daughter of Ben Thomas "B.T." and Vada Perkins Vaughn. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1938. She was a longtime member of Beta Sigma Phi and College Heights Baptist Church. On May 1, 1948, she married Fred Lanford Jr., in Clovis, N.M. He died March 2, 1994. Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Urban Modenbach and Dixie Lott, both of Plainview, and Mary Lanford of Dallas; a sister, Evelyn Stewart of San Diego, Calif.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two nephews; and one niece. Her parents, two brothers and one sister also are deceased. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home, 201 W. Fourth St.
