Obituary

HALE CENTER - Funeral services for Julia Mae Fitch Laney, 93, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with Berlin Raymond and Kevin Naillieux of Dalhart officiating. Burial will be in Hale Center Cemetery by Freeman-Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center. Mrs. Laney died at her daughter's residence in Hale Center on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001. She was born Aug. 6, 1908 in Coolidge and married Carl Laney in June 1925 in Olton. He died in 1993. They were pioneer farmers northwest of Hale Center. Survivors include a daughter, Melva Laney of Hale Center ; two half sisters, Hulda Guyton of El Paso and Olive Hammer of Reno, Nev.; and a granddaughter and her husband, Anita Burgess and Randy Pyles of Lubbock. A daughter, Joan Rogers; a brother, Everett Fitch; a sister, Della Fitch Stephens; and a grandson, Barry Burgess, are deceased. Pallbearers will be Kent Bearden, Bobby Byrd, Boyd Hollingsworth, Lloyd Rogers, Roy Uptergrove and Perry Vick. Honorary pallbearers will be Wilbur Laney, J.D. Hahn, Steve Stokes, Gordon Russell, Byron Robertson, Jimmy Cornelius, Mark Laney, Pete Laney and Darrell Mann.
