Obituary

PETERSBURG -- Funeral services for Oleta M. Lambert, 95, were at 10 a.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Wilson and the Rev. Tom Griffin officiating. Burial was in Petersburg Cemetery by White Funeral Home of Idalou. Mrs. Lambert died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, in Lubbock. She was born Jan. 18, 1909, in Georges Creek, the daughter of Bettie Alexander Nichols and Reuben Monroe. She graduated from high school in Walters, Okla. She moved to Petersburg from Lubbock in 1973. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethany Sunday School Class, Petersburg Senior Citizens and First Baptist Church. She enjoyed doing embroidery, painting and cross-stitch. On Nov. 21, 1931, she married J.H. Lambert in Walters. He died April 21, 1977. Survivors include two sons, Dale Lambert of Bryan and Charles Lambert of Coppell; a daughter, Barbara Smith of Petersburg; a sister, Beulah Wooten of Duncan, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. A son, Carl Lambert, and two grandchildren are deceased. The family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church Building Fund or to the Petersburg Cemetery Fund.
