Obituary

Funeral services for Athlee Tipton Lambert, 100, of Plainview will be at 2 p.m. Monday Dec. 5, 2011, at Bartley Memorial Chapel with Emmitt Tipton officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Ms. Lambert died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, in Plainview. She was born Oct. 1, 1911, in Running Water to Emmitt Tipton and Ela Edmonson Tipton. She was a retired realtor in Amarillo. She was one of the first women in Texas to receive her pilot's license. She loved fishing, her dogs and would sit with and assist people in many of the nursing homes and private homes before hospice was in existence. Survivors include one brother, Horace Tipton of Dumas; three nephews, Emmitt Tipton and wife Glenda, Kelvin Tipton and wife Kaye, and Drexel Tipton and wife Geneva, all of Plainview; two nieces, Nikki Branscum and husband Mark of Plainview and Elaine Heller of Arlington.
