Obituary

Funeral services for Lois Dell Cook Kiser, 91, of Plainview will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, at Bartley Memorial Chapel with Dr. D.L. Lowrie officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Kiser died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, in Plainview. Lois was born July 15, 1920, in Hamilton County, Texas, the youngest of 10 children, to Dickey and Amanda Stiles Cook. She grew up in Vernon and married Harve Arthur Kiser in 1942 in Wichita Falls, and they settled in Vernon in 1945. The Kisers moved to the Plainview area in 1954 and operated auto parts stores in Lockney, Floydada, Ralls and Hale Center. In 1958 they opened Kiser Auto Parts at Fifth and Date streets, and it continues today as one of Plainview's oldest family-owned and operated businesses. Lois was a member of First Baptist Church in Plainview and the Hargrove Sunday School Class. She was a founding member of the Hale County Republican Women's Club and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Plainview Women's Club. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, nine siblings and her sons, Howard Arthur Kiser and Samuel Curtis Kiser. Survivors include her husband, Harve Arthur Kiser; daughter-in-law and son, Barbara and Roy H. Kiser Sr.; four grandchildren, Roy H. Kiser Jr. and his wife, Deanna, Risa Woodward and her husband, Doug, Kempson Kiser and his wife, Janette Kiser, and Blair Kiser and his wife, Amanda; six great-grandchildren, Shyanne, Cierra and Crawford Kiser, Dylan and Margaret Woodward and Katy Kiser; five nieces and three nephews.
