Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2015, at the funeral home. Mr. Kiser died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, in Plainview after a brief illness. Harve was born Jan. 13, 1922, in Kiser Hollar, Carter County, Kentucky. He was the youngest son of John and Winnie (Baker) Kiser. John died when Harve was 5 years old. He and his two older brothers worked with their mother on the farm. To help support the family, Harve started driving a coal delivery truck when he was 12. In 1939, with his mother's blessing, he joined the Army Air Corps at the age of 17. He was assigned to the Quartermaster Corps (supply) and sent to Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls. There he met Lois Cook, his wife of 69 years. After the war, they settled in Vernon, Texas, where he learned the auto parts business. In 1947, he formed T&O Auto Supply, selling auto parts to garages and service stations door-to-door. In 1954, the Kisers moved to the Plainview area and operated stores in Lockney, Floydada, Ralls and Hale Center. Opened in 1958, Kiser Auto Parts at Fifth and Date continues today as one of Plainview's oldest family-owned and operated businesses. A lifelong Baptist and Republican, Harve loved his God, the Country, his family and his dog "Misty." His wife, Lois; two sons, Samuel Curtis Kiser and Howard Arthur Kiser; and brothers Orville and Ermill preceded him in death. Survivors include his oldest son Roy Kiser and wife Barbara; Sam's widow, Patsy Kiser; four grandchildren, Roy Jr. and wife Deanna, Risa Woodward, Kempson Kiser and Blair Kiser and wife Jamie; six great-grandchildren, Dylan and Margaret Woodward, Shyanne, Cierra and Crawford Kiser, and Katy Kiser; three nieces and three nephews. Memorials in Harve's name may be made to Covenant Hospital Foundation Capital Building Campaign, 2601 Dimmitt Road, Plainview, TX 79072 or the Plainview Humane Society, 500 SW Third St., Plainview, TX 79072.
