Obituary

Services for Don J. Ketchum, 78, of Hale Center will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, at First United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor of College Heights Baptist Church in Plainview, Texas, and the Rev. Jimmy Cameron of First United Methodist Church, Hale Center. Burial will be held under the direction of Abell Funeral Home in the Hale Center Cemetery. Mr. Ketchum died Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock, Texas. He was born Oct. 8, 1929. He married Margie Ables on July 25, 1948, in Conway, Texas. He had lived in Hale Center since 2000, moving from Edmonson, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Margie Ketchum of Hale Center; four daughters, Belinda Spencer and husband Jodie of Wimberley, Donna Harris and husband Willie of Lubbock, Teri Reeves and husband David of Plainview and Debbie Roberts and husband David of Hale Center; eight grandchildren, Kevin Spencer and wife Barrie of Austin, Shanna Weiss and husband Kelly of Austin, Justin Spencer and wife Kristin of Pflugerville, Derek Palmer of Midland, Dustin Hamilton and wife Amanda of Plainview, Marci Hamilton of Lubbock, Jon David Roberts and wife Jodi of Kerrick and Lindsay Roberts of Lubbock; three great-grandchildren, Rachel and Laura Spencer of Austin and Alli Jo Roberts of Kerrick; a sister, Nita Ramming and husband Rick of White Deer, Texas; and a brother, Esteene Ketchum and wife Tressie of Borger, Texas. He was proceeded in death by his father, Floy Everett Ketchum; his mother, Willie Sue Calliham-Ketchum; and his sisters, Lenova Nunley and Laverne Driskill. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, 3411 73rd St., Lubbock, TX 79423.
