Marlin "Joe" Kennedy, 66, of Plainview passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2011, in Plainview. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, at the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Plainview with Jerry Miller of Hart officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Marlin Joe was born July 6, 1945, in Amarillo, Texas, to J. L. and Zelma Kennedy. He was raised and attended schools in Dumas. He loved hunting and fishing. He also did leather work and some crocheting. He was a big fan of old music. Mr. Kennedy was a Certified Mechanic Technician for General Motors in Dumas, Dimmitt and Olton. Marlin Joe was a member of the Church of Christ in Olton. He is survived by his one daughter, Amanda Garcia and her husband, Carlos, of Earth; two sons, Michael Kennedy and his wife, Krista, of Plainview and John Kennedy and his wife, Tonya, of Canyon; his mother, Zelma Kennedy of Paris, Texas; one sister, Sally Ann Luttrell and her husband, Roy, of Blossom, Texas; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, John L. Kennedy; and one brother, Jerry Wayne Kennedy. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society , 3411 73rd.
