Obituary

Funeral services for Billie Jean Kennedy, 78, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Southside Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Trace McWilliams, pastor, and the Rev. Jay Simpson, chaplain of Area Community Hospice, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Mrs. Kennedy died at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, in Plainview Healthcare Center. She was born April 28, 1926, in Cold Springs, Okla. She had lived in Plainview most of her life and worked as a nurse's aide at Plainview Healthcare until retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and Assembly of God Church. On June 14, 1975, she married Billy Kennedy in Plainview. Survivors include her husband; one daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Donnie Pearl of Benton, Ky.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Joe and Kathryn Cozby and Lawrence "Tiny" Ballinger Jr., all of Plainview; a stepson, Billy L. Kennedy of Sherman; a brother, Danny Sarver of Plainview; a sister, Mary Mull of Plainview; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
