Obituary

Services for Vessie Geneva Kemp, 87, of Abernathy will be held 3 p.m. Saturday in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Horn, pastor of the Levelland Fellowship Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home.

She died Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, in the Lutheran Home of West Texas.

She was born on Nov. 17, 1911, in Alvord, Wise County. She married Eugene Kemp Sr. on March 22, 1930, in Marietta, Okla. He died Jan. 27, 1974. She had lived in Abernathy since 1943, moving from Era. She was a member of the Northside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Toy Wanda Holman and Mary Jo Kemp.

Survivors include five sons, Troy of Pottsboro, Wayne of Lubbock, and Porter, Eugene and Robert, all of Abernathy; two daughters, Linda Cozart of Abernathy and Imogene Debord of Lubbock; a sister; Charlsie Cady of Gainesville; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
