Obituary

Melvin Kelm, 78, passed away at 3:09 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, 2006, at his residence in Plainview. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gerald Boerger, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park by Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Mr. Kelm was born Aug. 4, 1927, in Burlington to Albert T. and Bertha Aginer Kelm. At the age of 2 he moved to the Providence community, attended school in Providence and graduated from Plainview High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950-52 during the Korean Conflict. Melvin married Wanda Chester in Littlefield on Oct. 9, 1951. He was a member and served as councilman at Trinity Lutheran Church until he moved to Plainview in 1967 and transferred his membership to St. Paul Lutheran Church. Melvin farmed northeast of Plainview and retired from custom farming and farming in 1998. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Kelm of Plainview; two sons, Ricky Kelm and Jerry Kelm, both of Plainview; one brother, Donald Kelm of Plainview; and four grandchildren, Melissa Tucker, Jerry Dale Kelm Jr., Ashley Kelm and Jason Kelm.
