Obituary

David M. Julian, 70, of Plainview passed away Sunday, May 24, 2009, in Lubbock. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at First Baptist Church in Plainview with Dr. Travis Hart officiating, assisted by Kenneth Coates. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Julian was born Dec. 10, 1938, in Hale County, Texas, to Arthur and Doris Julian. He married Lanell Johnson on July 14, 1962, in Lockney. David graduated from Plainview High School in 1957. He was a member of the Plainview Association of Realtors where he served in every office. He received the Realtor of the Year Award, the Doug Graham Memorial Award and The Pinnacle Award. He was Lion of the Year for the Evening Lions Club. He was a member of the Plainview Lions Club. He also was the Texas Lions Camp director. David was a Century Club Key Holder for the Lions Club and won the Jack Wiech Fellow Award. He was on the Building Trades Fire Code Board of Appeals and Planning and Zoning Code for the City of Plainview. He was a scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 253. Mr. Julian won the Shining Star Award for the American Cancer Society in 1998. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He loved hunting and fishing and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Julian is survived by his wife, Lanell Julian of Plainview; two daughters, Karyn McLean and husband, Brian, of Copeville and Kristine Campbell and husband, Joe, of Plainview; four sisters, Dovie Harding and husband, Paul, of Lubbock, Maxine Vernon and husband, Alvin, of Lubbock, Peggy Willis and husband, Gary, of Decatur and Pearl Cory and husband, John, of Lubbock; his mother, Doris Julian Borum of Plainview; eight grandchildren, Amber McLean, Amanda McLean, Abagail McLean, Amy McLean, Richard McLean, Daniel McLean, Russell David Julian and Kourtney Campbell; and three great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Elizabeth Claire and Adalyn Grace.
