Obituary

Services for Vida Harkey Judkins, 94, of Lubbock, and formerly Abernathy, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2008 in the South Park Baptist Church in Lubbock, with Rev. Gene Hawkins and Rev. John Heddey officiating. The family will gather to receive friends at Abell Funeral Home Monday evening from 6 to 7 p.m.

Burial will follow services in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy.

Mrs. Judkins died Saturday, August 2, 2008 in Lubbock.

She was born June 29, 1914 in Pottsville, Ark. She married L.A. Judkins on November 3, 1935 in Pottsville. The Judkins family moved to Abernathy in 1955 from the Muleshoe area, and she moved to Lubbock in 1995. She was a former member of the Abernathy Assembly of God Church where she and her husband were charter members. She was currently a member of South Park Baptist Church in Lubbock.

She was preceded in death by her husband and two grandsons.

She is survived by two sons, Jerry Judkins of Lubbock and Jackie Judkins of Dallas; three daughters, Glenda Holmes of Coweta, Okla.; Mary Jane Davis of Pottsville, Ark.; and Ruby Gilliland of Cottonwood, Ariz.; 18 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren.
