Obituary

Verna Mae Griffith Jones, 80, of Plainview, Texas, died at her home Friday, Dec. 21, 2007. She was born in Carson County, Texas, on Feb. 20, 1927, to C.A. Griffith and Ethel Mae Haden Griffith. She married Tollie Jones on April 1, 1950. Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, David and Nadine Griffith of Amarillo; one daughter and son-in-law, Tollie Mae and Gary Pointer of Lubbock; a son, Derrell Jones of Plainview; four grandchildren, Robby Jones of Amarillo, Dena Fraser of Seattle, Wash., Penney Thorn of Lubbock and David Pointer of Lubbock; and eight great-grandchildren. She was also survived by two sisters-in-law, Ellen Chiddox of Plainview and Freda Jones of Childress. A memorial service will be held at noon Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at Ninth of Columbia Church of Christ in the Family Room. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to your favorite charity.
