Jones, Ronald Dean, Mrs. (Connie Jo Holt)

Petersburg ? Funeral services for Connie Jo Holt Jones, 64, of Kirksville, Mo., former Petersburg resident, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ted Wilson officiating.

Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery by Brookside Funeral Home in Houston.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in First United Methodist Church in Kirksville.

Mrs. Jones died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, in Katy.

She was born May 3, 1938, in Petersburg where she grew up and graduated from Petersburg High School in 1956. She received bachelors and master?s degrees in English from Texas Tech and earned a doctorate from the University of Alabama in the Renaissance and 19th Century English writers in 1971.

She joined the faculty of Northeast Missouri State University in 1965 and earned full professorship in 1989.

She retired as professor emeritus of English in 1997 from Truman State University.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Kirksville and the Order of the Eastern Star.

She married Ronald Dean Jones in 1957. He died Feb. 3, 1966.

Survivors include two daughters, Terry Lea Perryman of Katy and Elisabeth Jones of Macon, Mr.; her parents, W.L. and Elizabeth Hold of Petersburg; three brothers, Ray hold of White Settlement, Mack holt of Loving, N.M., and Church Croft of Lubbock; and six grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Wesley House in Kirksville or Connie Holt Jones Scholarship at Truman State University.
