Obituary

Graveside services for Jake W. Jones, 90, of Kress will be at 11 a.m. today in Parklawn Memorial Gardens with the Rev. James Willborn officiating. Arrangements are by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Jones died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, in Plainview. He was born May 6, 1921, in Estelline to Judson and Jennie Hibbs Jones. He attended Estelline schools until his senior year then joined the U.S. Army in 1938. He was in the 796th Military Police and served under Gen. George Patton for 33 1/2 months. He married Maxine Brandes on Nov. 17, 1946. They moved to Claytonville and farmed from 1954-72. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Nancy Jones; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dickie and Tammy Jones and Max and Marian Jones; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
