Obituary

Larry Jones, 61, of Plainview passed away Friday, June 27, 2008, in Lubbock, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2008, at Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kyle Brock officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. today, June 29, 2008, at the funeral home. Mr. Jones was born April 11, 1947, in Madill, Okla., to Lloyd Lawrence and Ola Mae Jones. He lived in Madill until he was 7 years old when he moved to Borger. He graduated from Borger High School. He moved to Plainview in 1974. He worked at Gardner Chevrolet for 10 years then at Johnston Motors until 2000. He worked at Central Plains Center until 2008 and at the time of his death was working for The Diamond Group as a security officer. He married Donna Fay Dunn on Aug. 4, 2001, in Plainview. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Lions Club. He was an active member of AA and was on the board of trustees at The Serenity Center. He loved riding his motorcycles and collecting guns. He also loved woodworking, bowling and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Donna Fay Jones of Plainview; three daughters, Beverly Stanford and husband Chip of Edmonson, Kristi Mattox and husband Tom of Prosper and Tami Hayes and husband Ryan of Gunter; one stepdaughter, Tiffani Dutton of Lubbock; one brother, Danny Jones of Wichita Falls; one sister, Teresa Wells and husband Jerry of Fritch; six grandchildren, Riley Stanford and wife Shara, Samantha Stanford, Payton Mattox, Brody Mattox, Cale Hayes and Caden Hayes; and one great-grandchild, Harli Mae Stanford. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Parker John Mattox. The family suggests memorials to the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 5005 LBJ Fwy., Ste. 250 Dallas, TX 75244.
