Obituary

Funeral services for Ewel B. Jones, 93, of Kress will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Kress Church Of Christ. Burial will be at Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Jones died Friday, June 1, 2007, in Amarillo. He was born June 25, 1913, in Troy, Texas. He moved to Flomot in 1919, to Friona in 1927, then to Finney and Kress in the early 1930s. He farmed southeast of Kress and northeast of Claytonville. Mr. Jones was a member of Kress Co-op Gin where he served on board of directors for several years. He was a member of Kress Church of Christ. He married Dessie Mae Ray Dec. 13, 1941, in Clovis, N.M. Survivors include his wife; a son-in-law, Forrest Newton of Clarendon; two grandsons; two great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. His parents, Benjamin and Maudie Jones; one sister; six brothers; and a daughter, Connie Sue Newton, are deceased.
