Obituary

Funeral services for Ara Sue Jones, 77, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Wood-Dunning Colonial Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mrs. Jones died Saturday, March 2, 2002, at 2:45 a.m. in Covenant Hospital in Plainview. She was born April 24, 1924, in Plainview. She graduated from Springlake High School as valedictorian in 1937 and attended Texas State College for Women, Texas Tech and Lubbock Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated with honors from the University of Colorado with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She was a nurse at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Amarillo and also other hospitals. She retired in Kerrville, where she lived for many years, but moved back to Plainview. Survivors include a niece and her husband, Renee and Lonnie Wilson of Springlake; a nephew, Charlie H. Jones of Clyde; and a sister-in-law, Flossie Jones of Olton.
