Thomas was the son of Jacob Jarmon Johnson and Nancy Ann Battles. Siblings were Arthur, Fannie Lee Ann, Mary Ann, Isaac Frank, Nellie, James Daniel, and George E.Johnson. Thomas married Nannie Springer and their children were Curtis, Effie, Jack, Marie, and Della Mae Johnson.
