Obituary

Services for Marian Dell (Dunn) Johnson, 67, of Wellington, TX, were held at 10:00 am Saturday, April 26, 2008, in the Northside Baptist Church, Abernathy, TX. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX.

She was born in Clayton, NM on August 1, 1940 to Rosa Lee and Lloyd Dunn. They moved to Dumas, TX when she was about 3 years old. She and her family were active in the First Baptist Church. She graduated from Dumas High School in 1958 and worked at the church before moving to Amarillo, TX where she attended Draughns Business College. She was active in the First Baptist Church in Amarillo where she met William Robert "Bill" Johnson and married him November 23, 1968. They lived in Borger, Ft. Worth, Shallowater and Key West, FL where Bill served in the US Navy. After he retired from the Navy, they moved back to Shallowater where he took loving care of her as her alzheimers disease progressed until the time came that he could no longer take care of her at home. She passed away Thursday, April 24, 2008, in the Wellington Care Center, Wellington, TX.

She had been very active in the local churches and mission works at those churches. She was a member of the Mission Service Corps and the Womens Missionary Union (WMU). She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Mission in Olton, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents Rosa Lee and Lloyd Dunn, husband William R. "Bill" Johnson, her niece Rochelle Ammons and several aunts and uncles.

She is survived by a sister, Janet Ammons and her husband James of Wellington, TX, brother-in-law, Mike Johnson and his wife Sandie of Odessa, TX, sister-in-law, Janice Johnson of Midlothean, TX, stepmother-in-law, Betty Johnson of Abernathy, TX, several neices, Rose Ann Ammons of Austin, TX, Jolene Caraway and husband Chris, Lee Baird and her husband Matt, Anna Good and husband Jeremy, Ivy Roberts and husband Vance, a nephew, Andre Johnson of Odessa, TX, and great niece, Kayla Caraway.
