Funeral services for William "Herman" Johnson, 92, of Goldthwaite will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church in Halfway with the Rev. Jimmy Fikes, a Baptist minister, officiating.

Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Plainview under directions of Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview.

Mr. Johnson died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, in Lubbock.

He was born Oct. 7, 1911, in Olustee, Okla. to Lee Roy and Bessie Moss Johnson. He graduated from high school in Olustee and worked several yeas for the U.S. Post office there.

He married Connie Mae Hunter on Jan. 14, 1934 and they moved to Oklahoma City where he worked for BS&B Tank Mfg. After the war, they moved to Texas and began farming at Wolfforth, then Mayfield and then Halfway. He then went into the service station business in Plainview, working there until he retired.

Mrs. Johnson died in 1973. He later married Pauline Miller and they moved to Goldthwaite. She died in November 1991.

Mr. Johnson was a Baptist deacon.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Billy Wayne and Patricia Johnson of Wolfforth and Steve and Carrol Johnson of Lubbock; two daughters and a son-in-law, Brookie Mears of Lubbock and Martha and Neilan Smith of Halfway; a sister, Roylene Hall of Corpus Christi; and 10 grandchildren, Melinda Northcutt, Jennifer Asper, Alan Johnson, Jane't Howey, Brent Mears, Scott Smith, Mark Smith, Stephanie Ritchie, Sandra Phipps and Shelby Johnson and 20 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. today at Lemons Funeral Home.
