Obituary

Funeral services for Mattie Joy Johnson, 74, of Plainview will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Garland Street Church of Christ with Weldon Melton officiating and Steve Gaunt assisting. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Johnson died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, in Plainview. She was born Nov. 4, 1936, to Wesley and Ruby Banister in Hedley. She married Waylon Johnson in March 1965 in Plainview. She was a member of Garland Street Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Rodney Hearn of Plainview and Jennie Johnson and Charley Reese of Lubbock; one son, Eddie Johnson of Gainesville; one sister, Jerry Woods of Canyon; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Her parents and one grandson, Jeremy Ellena, are deceased. The family suggests memorials to High Plains Children's Home, 11461 S. Western, Amarillo, TX 79118-4119.
