Obituary

Richard D. "Dick" Johnson, 61, passed away at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, at his residence in Plainview. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, in First Baptist Family Life Chapel with the Rev. Frank Fincher of Good Hope Baptist Church, Fort Stockton, Mo., officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Dick was born July 16, 1944, in Abilene to Thomas Webb and Cleo Dora Hodges Johnson. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1963. Dick married Kathryn Charlene Chaney in Plainview on April 30, 1965. He worked at United Farms Industries as superintendent and gin manager for 26 years. He was a member of Elks Lodge 1175 for 17 years and the Plainview Bass Club. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Tony Johnson and wife Misty and Tracy Johnson and wife LaDonna, all of Lubbock; two brothers, Allen Johnson and wife Evelyn and Pat Johnson and wife Joyce, all of Plainview; one sister, Pauline Fincher and husband Frank of Fort Stockton, Mo.; a brother-in-law, Herb Chaney and wife Kay of Plainview; a sister-in-law, LaQueta Garner of Muleshoe; three grandchildren, Tyler Johnson, Mackenzie Johnson and Kathryn Johnson, all of Lubbock; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends from Possum Kingdom Lake. The family suggests memorials to Area Community Hospice Foundation, 3109 Olton Road, Suite C, Plainview, TX 79072 or a favorite charity.
