Obituary

Funeral services for Edith Johnson, 82, of Woodward, Okla., were at 10:30 a.m. today in First Assembly of God Church in Woodward with the Rev. Sam Scott and the Rev. Donnetta Hunter officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Plainview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Good Samaritan Funeral Service in Woodward. The body will be at Bartley-Silva Funeral Home from 6-10 p.m. today and 9-10 a.m. Thursday where family members will receive friends. Mrs. Johnson died Sunday, July 21, 2002, in Woodward Regional Hospital. She was born March 14, 1920, in Becton. She graduated from Idalou High School in 1938. On March 5, 1940, she married R.H. "Buster" Johnson in Slaton and they traveled with his construction job through Arkansas, New Mexico and Tennessee. When his work took him to the oilfields, they moved to Texas, New Mexico and then to Woodward in 1981. She was a member of first Assembly of God Church in Woodward. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Tammy Parker of Woodward; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Varie Dial and Jolene Rollins, both of Lubbock and Lorene and Ben Scott of Comanche, Okla.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Janice Yett and Brent and Aileen Yett, all of Lubbock; and a granddaughter, Kaycee Parker of Woodward. Her parents, Joseph Samuel and Bennie Alberta Anderson Yett, a sister, Mildred Norris, and a brother, Julian Yett, are deceased.
