Obituary

Doris F. Johnson, 85, of Plainview passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, surrounded by family. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Doris was born Dec. 5, 1924, in Dublin, Ga., to Luther and Lotus Frost. Doris and the love of her life, Paul, were partners in all aspects of life. Residents of Plainview for more than 50 years, they worked together to build a family and also worked together to build a business. They owned and operated Plainview Ice Company, later Host Ice Company, for more than 25 years. She and her husband both were Realtors and built a thriving rental business. Active in the community, Doris served on the local Salvation Army Board and the Plainview Cemetery Board. She is survived by her husband, Paul; two sons, Richard and his wife, Judy, of South Lake, Texas, and Don and his wife, Sharon, of Amarillo, Texas; one daughter, AnnDee of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two granddaughters, Rachel and Sarah; two grandsons, Adrian and Thomas; and two great-granddaughters, Jenna and Lea.
