Paul was born Aug. 31, 1930, in Elkton, Kentucky, to Grace and Sterling Johnson. Paul and the love of his life, Doris, were partners in all aspects of life, working together to build a family and several local businesses. Residents of Plainview for more than 55 years, they owned and operated Plainview Ice Company (later Host Ice Company) for 22 years. He was also a licensed real estate broker and they built a thriving rental business. Paul held a B.S. in Agriculture from The Ohio State University and did M.B.A. work at Texas Tech University. Paul was a pillar of the community, serving on the boards of the Hale County/Plainview Industrial Foundation, the Plainview/Hale County Hospital Authority, the Prairie House Living Center, the Plainview Minimum Housing Standards Board, the Southwestern Ice Association and the Plainview Board of Realtors. Paul was a kind, decent, fair-minded gentleman, always ready to step up and help.
