Graveside services for Billie McCreary Johnson, 94, of Plainview, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hale Center Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Cameron, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating and Jim Fullingim assisting. Arrangements are by Freeman-Abell Funeral Home. Mrs. Johnson died Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at Legend of the Plains Nursing Center in Hale Center. She was born Feb. 8, 1911, in Holdenville, Okla. She married Noel "Jack" Johnson on Oct. 6, 1928, in Olton. He died Dec. 2, 1994. Mrs. Johnson moved to Hale Center in 1926 and graduated from Hale Center High School in 1930. She lived in the Hale Center area 29 years before living in surrounding areas. She attended cosmetology school and owned and operated beauty shops in Hale Center, Plainview and Hereford. She was employed with dress shops in Amarillo and Skibell's in Lubbock. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Jerry Johnson of Plainview and Jack Johnson of Hale Center; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Two grandsons are deceased. Taylor Johnson died in August 1979 and Parker Johnson died in January 1990. Family visitation and viewing will be from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at Freeman-Abell Funeral Home.
