Obituary
Memorial services for the Rev. Kenneth Johnson, 70, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Lemons Funeral Home. Rev. Johnson died at 7:49 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, in Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo. He was born Aug. 26, 1934, in Fort Worth, the son of Fred and Antha Johnson. He attended Diamond Hills High School in Fort Worth. He married Joyce Ann Scroggins on Dec. 4, 1954, in Fort Worth. She died in May 1999. He was an ordained minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and pastored churches in Spearman, Laverne, Okla., and Lawton, Okla. In 1979, the Johnsons moved to Plainview where he pastored Evangel Temple, later renamed Faith Family Church, for 21 years. He was an honorary member of the RHEMA Bible Training Center Alumni Association and the Diamond Hill Eagles Ex-Student Association. He was an avid golfer. Survivors include his four children, Terri Johnson Atkinson and husband, Willie, and Freddie Johnson Bothwell and husband, Bob, all of Plainview and Deborah Johnson Farley and husband, Mark, and Scott Johnson and wife, Missy, all of Amarillo; 11 grandchildren, Jeremy Sutton and wife, Tonya, Leslie Mullins and husband, Paul, Erin Pfeil and husband, Jeremy, Farrell Farley, Kenton Atkinson, Zachary Johnson, Quenten Johnson, Blake Bothwell, Gabriel Johnson, Cristen Bothwell and Sydney Farley; three great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Savannah and Wynston Sutton of Amarillo; and two sisters and one brother, Norma George of Tulsa, Okla., Barbara Gregg and husband, Gene, of Plainview, and Keith Johnson and wife, Tracy, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada; and a special friend, Ginger Pool. His wife, Joyce; his parents; and a sister, Jean, are deceased. The family will receive friends at Lemons Funeral Home from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
