Johnson, John Roy

Funeral services for John Roy Johnson, 61, will be at 3 p.m. today in Lemons Memorial Chapel with Steve Rodgers, pastor of Trinity Fellowship, and Jerry Johnson, deacon of First Assembly of God Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home.

Mr. Johnson died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.

He was born May 27, 1939, in Hamilton. He grew up in Plainview where he attended schools. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1956 and served as a Machinist?s Mate 3rd Cass until 1960. He returned to Plainview and worked as a truck driver and farmer.

He attended Trinity Fellowship Church.

He married Margaret Sims on March 18, 1961, in Amarillo.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter and son-in-law, Jonna and Brad Bowman of Sweetwater; one son, Kevin Johnson of Plainview; his mother, Katie Johnson of Plainview; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Sharon Johnson of Plainview and Time and Sue Johnson of Halfway; and five grandchildren.
