Funeral services for George W. Johnson, 84, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Joel Perez, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Abernathy Cemetery by Abell Funeral Home.
Mr. Johnson died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, in Hale Center.
He was born Sept. 10, 1918, in Dundee. He moved to Hale County from Arkansas in 1962 and to Abernathy in 1985. He was a farmer and a Baptist.
On May 5, 1935, he married Lillie Marie Ensey in Vernon. She died March 5, 1993,
Survivors include two daughters, Marie Whorton of West Helena, Ark., and Shirley Garcia of Cotton Center; three sons, Bobby Johnson of Freemont, Ind., Leslie Johnson of Pine Bluff, Ark., and David Johnson of Arlington; two brothers, Dan Johnson of Abernathy and Sonny Davis of Devals Bluff, Ark.; a half-brother, LeRoy Davis of Cherokee Village, Ark.; a sister, Verbenia Foster of Old Helena, Ark.; 20 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
