Graveside services for Jennie Jennings, 89, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Plainview Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Carter, pastor of Southside Assembly of God Church, officiating. Burial arrangements are by Bartley Funeral Home. Mrs. Jennings died Monday, April 26, 2004, in Covenant Hospital. She was born Dec. 2, 1914, at Mt. View, Okla. She moved to Plainview from Cotton Center 60 years ago. She married Robert Jennings in 1952 in Draw. He died in 1994. She was active in the restaurant business with her husband and they owned and operated several, including The Playland Restaurant in Plainview, a truck stop restaurant in Lamesa and Losson's Restaurant in Kress. She worked as a waitress and cook for the Chicken Inn in Plainview during the 1950s, the Nu Griddle Restaurant and Congress Inn Restaurant. Survivors include two daughters, Elberta Elliott of Plainview and Jean Greenwood of Lubbock; seven grandchildren, including Kathryn Cozby, Nelda Barbian and Teresa Greenwood May, all of Plainview; 12 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
