Obituary

Memorial services for Clarence "Poppason" Jennings, 79, will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday in New Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church with a son, the Rev. Ed Jennings, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Bartley Funeral Home. Mr. Jennings died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005, in Covenant Hospital Plainview. He had lived in Plainview for the past 34 years and worked for J.C. Alford's farm from the late 1950s to the early 1970s, then worked for Excel beefpackers for several years and later worked for "Pockets" Heard's farm until his retirement. He was a member of New Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Bennie; three sons, Edward Jennings of Plainview, Jerald Allen of Tulia and James Allen Jr.; six daughters, Maudie Jennings, Sandra Jennings and Cynthia Jennings, all of Plainview, Ruby Joyce of Oklahoma City, Wanda Allen Starling of Houston and Sherwin Allen Burks of Amarillo; 20 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
