Obituary

Funeral services for Lorene Ethel Cure Stewart Jefferies will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Cameron officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Freeman-Abell Funeral Home. Mrs. Jefferies died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, at her residence. She was born Oct. 13, 1914, in Clay County to Maude and Owen Cure. The family moved to Hale Center where she graduated from high school. She married Bert Martin Stewart on Jan. 6, 1934. He died Nov. 18, 1980. She later married R.A. Jefferies and continued to live in Hale Center until her death. Mr. Jefferies also is deceased. She held longtime membership in the Order of the Eastern Star and Pioneer Study Club and was a highly skilled seamstress. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Latrell and Jack Hysinger of Olton; one son and daughter-in-law, Wally and Patsy Stewart of Hale Center; one sister, Hope Loveless of Stephenville; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church of Hale Center, the Hale Center Public Library, Hale Center Senior Citizens Center, or a charity of your choice.
