Obituary

Will-Allen Jameson, a fourth generation Texan was born in Plano, Texas, to Tom and Garnet Stodghill on Dec. 2, 1927. She was the namesake and great-niece of Will Allen Dromgroole who penned the famous poem "The Bridge Builder." Will-Allen was known as "Billie" to her friends. Billie graduated from Amarillo College and Wayland Baptist University with a Bachelor of Science degree. She worked for the Plainview Daily Herald in advertising and wrote many articles on local activities. Will-Allen was always interested in Texas history, especially the Dust Bowl Days of the 1930s as her family lived on a ranch near Snyder, Texas, during that time. She enjoyed reading, writing, and visiting with her friends and was a member and officer in a number of women's clubs in Plainview. She helped start the Plainview Writing Club with the help of her many friends who loved writing. She and her husband Ray lived in Plainview with their two sons and were members of the First Baptist Church in Plainview. Ray and Will-Allen Jameson were married on June 19, 1947, in Amarillo Texas. Billie is survived by her eldest son Robert Alan Jameson and wife Heather M. Jameson and their two daughters Rachel and Rebekah and three granddaughters that live in North Carolina. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at the First Baptist Church Chapel in Plainview with Ron Warren officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
