Obituary
James, Robert Claude
PLAINVIEW, Sept. 28 (Special) - Funeral services will be held here at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon for Robert C. James, 44 years old, interviewer for the Texas State Employment Service office here, who died early Friday night in a Floydada hospital of gunshot wounds. Rev. L. B. Reavis, Plainview, will officiate. Burial will be here.
James died two hours after he was shot as he sat in his automobile on a downtown street in Floydada. T.E. Hough's estranged wife, a resident of Plainview, said James took her to Floydada Friday afternoon so she could get school clothes for her two children, 10 and 6 years old.
As the shots were fired, James sprang from his automobile and grappled with Hough, wrestling the automatic pistol from him, and striking Hough over the head with the gun, witnesses said.
