Jackson, Roy Jewel, JR.

Graveside services for Roy J. Jackson Jr., 73, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Petersburg Cemetery with Ted Assiter of Lubbock officiating.

Burial arrangements are by Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview.

Mr. Jackson died Sunday, July 13, 2003 in Covenant Hospital Lakeside in Lubbock.

He was born May 16, 1930, in Wanette, Okla. He grew up in this area and graduated from Petersburg Hugh School in 1947. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and after returning home, worked for Joe Barlow?s Phillips 66 for several years. He later moved to Plainview and was a self-employed carpenter.

Survivors include a son, H.L. Stewart Jr., of Plainview; his mother, Ruby Jackson of Plainview; three sisters, Thelma Baley and Floetta Ames, both of Plainview and Ruby Thompson of Petersburg; and two grandchildren. Cody Jo Stewart of Denver, Colo., and Lee Alan Stewart of Fayetteville, Ark.

His first wife, Mary Ruth Bennett, died in 1956 and his second wife, Lindell ?Wendy? Charles Jackson, died in 1998. A brother Charles Jackson, die in 1969.
