Ruby Thelma Jackson peacefully departed this world on Wednesday, June 2, 2004. She was 96 years of age. Ruby Jackson was a devoted wife, loving mother, and adoring grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. To all her family and friends she was lovingly known as "Grannie." Ruby Jackson was born on October 2, 1907, in Daus, Tenn., to the late John Ransom Henry and Lou Pickett. She married Roy Jewel Jackson on October 11, 1925, in Trousdale, Okla. To this union of two lives, five children were born. Her beloved husband preceded her in death on June 4, 1984. Her faith in God was evident throughout her lifetime and was a very large part of her life. She was a member of Southside Assembly of God Church and very active in the Women's Ministries, where she sewed quilt tops, tacked quilts for the missionaries and made lap coverings for nursing homes. Her gifts of handmade quilts were also lovingly bestowed on her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Ruby Jackson will be greatly missed by her family, which includes her three daughters, Thelma Bailey and husband Glen of Plainview, Ruby Thompson and husband J.C. of Petersburg, and Floetta Ames of Plainview; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Her sons, Roy Jewel Jackson Jr., and Charles Floyd Jackson, preceded her in death. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. today in Southside Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Mark Carter, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home.
