Obituary
Jack Ingram passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at 12:45 a.m. in Covenant Hospital of Plainview. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2005, at First United Methodist Chapel with Dr. Lewis Holland, pastor, officiating. He will be assisted by Dr. Max Browning, retired pastor of First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Mr. Ingram was born Aug. 19, 1921, to Sam and Lucy Turpin Ingram in Alvord, TX. He grew up in Texas and New Mexico. He married Juanell Morris on March 25, 1943, in Matador, TX. He was in the 20th Armored Division and was stationed in Clarksville, Tenn., where his newly-wed wife joined him. He was in the service for 3 1/2 years, serving 11 months of his enlistment in Italy. He was discharged in March 1945 and farmed with his father-in-law for the rest of that year. In 1946 he took GI training with Haynes Motor Company and worked there for four years as a mechanic. In 1952 he moved with his wife to Blackwell to work for Ed Haynes, then back to Plainview in August 1952 and farmed in the Liberty community. From 1957-64 he worked for Larson Turner Implement Company. In 1965, the Ingrams moved to Dimmitt where he farmed in the Bethel Flag community and worked for five years with the 4-H club. In 1991 the Ingrams moved to Plainview. He had served as a school crossing guard and as a Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer for several years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Wesley Sunday School Class. Mr. Ingram is survived by his wife; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, R.G. and Twilla Morris of Petersburg and Ruby and Homer Owen of Areil, Israel; several nieces, nephews and friends.
