Obituary

Funeral services for Dollie Elizabeth Hurt, 102, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in College Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Gregg Smith, the Rev. Darwin Cox, and the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mrs. Hurt died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at 5:10 a.m. She was born Sept. 24, 1900, in Taylor County. She moved to Plainview in 1923 and was a homemaker and a member of College Heights Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school for most of her life and played the piano for Seth Ward Baptist Church for many years. She was very active in most church activities. On April 13, 1919, she married Walter Lee Hurt in Taylor County. He died Dec. 18, 1982. Survivors include four daughters and a son-in-law, Erma
Lee Cox, Olene Yates, Mary Katherine Sharp, all of Plainview, and Lyvonne and Burton Davis of Vancouver, Wash.; a sister, Jewel Lawrence of Lampasas; a brother, John Herrington of Arlington; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and special friends, Gloria and Jim Gomez of Plainview. A granddaughter, Elaine Johnson; and 11 brothers and sisters are deceased.
