Obituary

Marion Grace Hughes, 93, was born to Charles Elmer and Grace Dodge Draper in Spring, Iowa, Oct. 3, 1912. She entered into her eternal reward June 30, 2006, at the age of 93 in Christian Care Center, Mesquite, Texas. Funeral services were today at 9:30 a.m. in the First United Methodist of Plainview with burial to follow in the Plainview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home. There was a visitation Sunday July 2, 2006 from 6-7 p.m. at Lemons Funeral Home 206 W. Eighth Street. Marion came to Plainview as a young child with her parents by train. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1930. She married Herbert R. Hughes on Nov. 27, 1932, a marriage that lasted until his death in 1983. A devout Christian Marion was a longtime member of St. John's Methodist and First United Methodist Churches in Plainview. She was active in Sunday school, choir, and United Methodist Women. Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Lawrence and Milo Draper, and her husband, Herbert. Survivors include cousins and four generations of nieces and nephews. The family suggests that memorials be given to First United Methodist Church, Plainview and Christian Care Center 1000 Wiggins Parkway Mesquite, TX 75150
