Graveside services for Jerry Lee Hudgins, 67, of Lubbock will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Parklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Plainview with the Rev. Drew Travis, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Plainview, officiating. Arrangements are by Wood Dunning Funeral Home of Plainview. Mr. Hudgins passed away Saturday, April 15, 2006, after a lengthy illness. He was born Dec. 22, 1938, in Hagerman, N.M., and moved shortly thereafter with his family to Plainview. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1957. He served in the Texas National Guard from 1956-65. He began his career as a court reporter in the district attorney's office in Houston. He later worked for Santa Fe Railroad, first in the Amarillo office and then in Chicago, spanning 21 years in the labor relations department for the railroad. After moving back to West Texas, Mr. Hudgins worked 14 years for the City of Lubbock in Codes Administration. Mr. Hudgins is survived by his beloved daughter, Christy Stewart of Amarillo, and his mother, Mae Jones of Lubbock, to whom he was a devoted son. He is preceded in death by his father, Earl Hudgins, and his brother, Earnest Hudgins. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Plainview or a charity of choice.
