Howell, James Powell

Funeral services for James P. Howell, 86, of Lubbock, were at 10 a.m. today in Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Parmer, pastor, officiating.

Burial was in Plainview Cemetery by Abell Funeral Home.

Mr. Howell died Sunday, July 9, 2000, at his residence.

He was born Oct. 18, 1913, in Hale Center. He graduated from Texas Tech and was retired from U.S. Army.

On Sept. 30, 1946, he married Norma Ruth Hennig in Matador. She died Dec.22, 1996.

Survivors include two sons, James W. Howell of San Angelo and Doug Howell of Lubbock; three daughters, Nancy Hubbard and Virginia Dehart, both of Lubbock and Helen Graves of Austin; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A grandson, Stephen Hubbard, died Dec. 20, 1996.
