Obituary
Barbara Carlton Hooper passed away on Oct. 18, 2005, in Austin, Texas. She was born to Fred W. Carlton and Alma Carlton on Dec. 7, 1921, in Hillsboro, Texas. She resided in Plainview until 1967. She moved to San Antonio in 1978 then to Amarillo. She was store manager for Blair Uniforms in both cities. In 1980, she was named executive secretary for the Canyon Senior Citizens, organization serving in that capacity until her retirement in 1996. She moved to Austin in 1997 to spend her last years nearer to her family in that area. She is survived by three sons, Larry of Austin, Texas; Richard of McClean, Va.; and Monty Hooper of Houston, Texas; their wives; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Maurice Carlton of Carrollton, Texas; one niece; and one nephew. She was a Christian and a long-time Baptist. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Canyon. She was a graduate of Plainview High School, Class of 1939. She was married to L.G. Hooper from 1940 until 1963. Services will be at Lemons Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Roger Foote officiating, to be followed by burial at Plainview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lemons Funeral Home.
